The Università degli Studi di Padova (Unipd), in Italy, is the coordinator of the CCD-STeDe programme. 

The University of Padova is one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious seats of learning; it is a multi-disciplinary university that aims to provide its students with both professional training and a solid cultural background. A qualification from the University of Padova is a symbol of having achieved an ambitious objective, one that is recognized and coveted by both students and employers alike.

The University of Padua traces its origins back to 1222. The motto “Universa Universis Patavina Libertas” – ‘complete liberty for all at the University of Padua’ – underlines the total freedom of thought that the university has always granted its teachers and its students. The institution consists of 13 faculties that offer 100 first cycle degree courses, 80 second cycle degree courses, 70 Short specialization degree courses, 65 specialization schools (mostly medical ones) and a school of excellence (Scuola Galileiana di Studi Superiori). Moreover the research departments host over 76 different doctoral programmes, which are grouped in 35 doctoral schools and 4 doctorate courses. It is one of the most important higher education institutions in Italy with more than sixty thousand students (40000 at bachelor level, 20000 at master level and 1500 at doctoral level), 230 post-doc researchers, 2300 members of the teaching staff and 2300 members of the administrative staff.

Department of Civil Environmental and Architectural Engineering

The Department of Civil Environmental and Architectural Engineering is one of the leading institutions in Italy for research in the disciplines of civil engineering, architecture and environment, with special emphasis on interdisciplinary aspects and applications in areas of territorial sustainability. In this context the Department coordinates the International Joint Master degree on Sustainable Territorial Development – Climate Change, Cooperation, diversity with the plan to spread into the school of Engineering the dimension of Europe and the World. In cooperation with Andean University Simón Bolívar (UASB), Quito, Ecuador is managed the Joint program on “Climate Change Policies, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services”. The Department hosts the Laboratory GIScience and Drones for Good (D4G) developing research support activities, applied research, participatory action research on the issues of GIScience and the use of geographic information technologies (GIS, web GIS, Unmanned Systems, etc.) in the sustainable management of the territory and of natural resources. At the department is based the long term research program on “Climate change, territories, diversity” with a special focus on Climate Justice in high bio-cultural diversity areas in the world.
